Zagora Desert Camp

1 nights

Day 1: Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Zagora

Dinner

Our Zagora desert trip from Marrakech starts this morning at 7:30. You will take the road to Zagora city via Ouarzazate, going through Tizi N´Tichka pass (2260 m. in altitude), stopping along the way to admire the panoramic views to the Berber small villages that camouflage in the landscape. Then, we head to Ouarzazate, also known as “The gate of the desert” which in the Berber language means “noiseless or without confusion”. Here, we´ll see the Taourirt Kasbah, one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco. Our next stop will be in the Draa Valley, well-known for its amazing Ksours and Kasbahs. Before nightfall, you will arrive in Zagora where you will enjoy the sun setting down as you ride your camel to reach the desert camp. Check-in and later, you will enjoy a delicious dinner and sleep in a tent under the starry sky of the Zagora desert.

Day 2: Zagora - Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah - Telouet Kasbah - Marrakech

Breakfast

Very early in the morning, you have a “Date with the sunrise”. Waking up early in the desert is a “must do” to contemplate the most spectacular sunrise you’ve ever seen. After having breakfast in the desert camp, you will return by camel to meet with your driver and drive back to Marrakech. Our journey continues to the fortified village of Aït Ben Haddou. Without a doubt, this is one of the most stunning places in Morocco. Here, we will visit the famous Kasbah (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Famous films have been shot on this spectacular stage, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, and more recently, some scenes from the famous series The Game of Thrones. Then, we drive through Ounila Valley, a less touristic part of Morocco, to visit the Telouet Kasbah, one of Morocco’s concealed jewels and a legendary Kasbah that represents the origin of the Pacha Glaoui Family. Although the Kasbah of Telouet seems at first to fall into ruin, the interior still bears witness to the reign of the Glaoui family, with stucco lounges, zellige walls, marble and faience ornaments, long corridors, and cedar ceilings surprisingly well-preserved. We continue through the Atlas Mountains and around 6 pm, we will arrive in Marrakech where the driver will drop you off at your accommodation, and this is the end of your Zagora desert trip from Marrakech.
