Our 3 days/2 nights desert tour from Marrakech, is one of our most popular tours. This tour has been designed for the traveler eager to explore deep into the Morocco Sahara desert and who doesn’t mind driving long hours. You will have an amazing time touring the desert and passing through the scenic route of 1000 Kasbahs. With this tour, definitely you will not feel a drop of boredom. The landscape changes dramatically. Beginning with the fertile Haouz plains of Marrakech and the high Atlas Mountains, to oases and valleys. Then to the rocky plateaus, and the unbelievable Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Just make sure you bring your camera, as you’ll see places you’ve never seen before. Places you simply couldn’t imagine not even in your wildest dreams!

Dades Valley

1 nights

Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas Mountains - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley

Dinner

Pick up from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8 a.m., and depart to the High Atlas, a subrange of the Moroccan Atlas Mountains. We are going through Tizi N´Tichka pass with stops for the panoramic views, and taking pictures of the Berber small villages that camouflage in the landscape. Then, we continue south to the ksar (fortified village) of Aït Ben Haddou where we will visit the famous Kasbah (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Famous films have been shot on this spectacular stage, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara with Penelope Cruz…etc. Free time for lunch in town.

After that, we will continue to Ouarzazate, also known as “The gate of the desert” which in the Berber language means “noiseless or without confusion”. Here we´ll see the Taourirt Kasbah, one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco. The next site we will visit is the Rose Valley, going previously through the big Skoura palm grove, a beautiful place with more than 700.000 palms and numerous kasbahs that are built in the surrounding area. Finally, we reach the Dades valley where we´ll spend the night. Dinner and overnight in a traditional hotel.

Merzouga desert camp

Day 2: Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Erfoud - Merzouga desert

Breakfast, Dinner

After breakfast in the hotel, we will drive to the valley to see the amazing rock formation “the monkey toes”, and the still-standing 19th-century Kasbah of Ait Yul. Leaving the Dades valley towards Tinrghir, and after some stops on the way, we´ll reach the Todra Gorges. The scenery is spectacular. At the Gorge, you’ll walk under the 300m high red cliff. After a short walk in the Todra gorges we continue our trip to Erfoud and Rissani where we’ll have lunch and afterward we’ll leave for the village of Merzouga. In the afternoon you will have a camel ride, to explore the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi, until to reach the desert camp. Here you’ll spend your night in a traditional Berber tent but before that, you will have a delicious dinner and you will enjoy a spectacle of traditional music. Dinner and overnight in a desert camp.

Marrakech

Day 3: Merzouga desert - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech

Breakfast

Very early in the morning, we have a “Date with the sunrise”. In the middle of the desert, waking up early is a “must do” to see the most spectacular sunrise you´ve ever seen. After having breakfast, we will start our long trip back to Marrakech, going through the High Atlas Mountains. During the afternoon we will arrive in Marrakech, the driver will drop you off at your hotel/riad or any other preferable place, and this is the end of one of our most beautiful desert tours from Marrakech.

We recommend bringing a hat, sunblock, and a change of clothes. If you are traveling during the winter months (December, January, and February), it is extremely important to pack very warm clothes and shoes, as desert temperatures can drop dramatically at night.

Yes, on the final day, after traveling back through the High Atlas Mountains, our driver will drop you off at your hotel, riad, or any other preferred location in Marrakech during the afternoon.
